ACPP commends nullification of Senator Ademola Adeleke’s Candidacy

ACPP COMMENDS NULLIFICATION OF SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE’S CANDIDACY

The Alliance of Collaborating Political Parties (ACPP) has commended the action of an Abuja High Court sitting in Bwari Area Council of Abuja on Tuesday which nullified the nomination of Senator Ademola Adeleke as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the September 2018 Governorship Election in Osun State. Adeleke, who represents Osun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, was the PDP’s candidate in the 2018 governorship election in Osun state.

This was contained in a press release issued and signed by the Acting Chairman, Alh. Rafiu Anifowose and the Secretary Mr. Victor Olopade and made available to newsmen in Osogbo after the state emergency meeting of the Association.

It would be recalled that the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal recently declared Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the poll. That was after Justice Obiora and Justice Ayinla Gbolagunte, entered a majority judgment in favour of Senator Adeleke. PDP and Senator Adeleke had earlier approached the Tribunal to challenge the declaration of Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC as the winner of the September 22, 2018, election by INEC.

In a twist of fate, two Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wahab Raheem and Adam Habeeb, had in 2018 barely few days to the governorship election in Osun State had dragged Adeleke to court, accusing him of not possessing the requisite educational qualification (secondary school certificate) to contest for the office of governor.

The spokesperson of the Alliance for Collaborating Political Parties (ACPP), Dr. Adekunle Oyerinde described the court action as democratic and unbiased. According to him, it’s a prophecy of what will happen soon. We are confident and hopeful that the verdict of the Appeal Court will favour APC and Governor Gboyega Oyetola by the grace of Almighty God.”

Alh. Rafiu Anifowose, the Acting Chairman of the Alliance urged the people of the state to continue giving their support and loyalty to the governor elect Alh. Gboyega Oyetola and perform their civic duties like paying taxes and obeying government directives on civic matters.

The Secretary General of the Association, Mr. Victor Olopade assured State of Osun citizens of good dividends of democracy under the political administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola. According to him, “Oyetola is still the governor of the state and still in charge of the state’s administration.
